Mining Sector

Our mining operations extend across a diverse range of resources, with a strong focus on Platinum Group Metals. We are also actively involved in the extraction of manganese, magnetite, hematite, chrome, ferrochrome, coal, and iron ore—delivering comprehensive solutions to meet the needs of the mining sector and related industries.

Sizwe Sechaba Mining is a proud shareholder in Kalahari Resources, which in turn holds a 40% stake in Kalagadi Manganese, alongside the IDC (10%) and ArcelorMittal (50%).

The Kalagadi Manganese Project, located in the renowned Kalagadi Basin, is one of the world’s richest sources of manganese ore—containing 80% of the globe’s known reserves. Sizwe Sechaba Mining has played a pivotal role in developing a manganese mine, beneficiation plant, and sinter complex in Hotazel (Northern Cape), as well as a smelter complex in Coega (Eastern Cape).

Production Capacity

  • 3 million tons of ore per annum (37% manganese)
  • Beneficiated into 2.4 million tons of sinter per annum (46% manganese)
  • Of this, 1.7 million tons available for direct export
  • 700,000 tons utilised at the smelter to produce ferro‑manganese
